**Rakshit Shetty** (born 6 June 1983) is an Indian actor, writer, producer, and filmmaker who is best known for his work in Kannada cinema. His films are widely known for incorporating urban legends, Indian folklore, nonlinear storylines, extended scenes of dialogue, references to Indian mythology, and a wide variety of other films.

Born in Udupi, Karnataka, Shetty earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from the NMAM Institute of Technology in Nitte. He initially worked as a software professional in Bengaluru for two years before leaving the IT industry to pursue his passion for acting and storytelling in cinema.

Shetty gained widespread mainstream recognition with his starring role in the 2013 hit romantic comedy *Simple Agi Ondh Love Story*. In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the neo-noir crime drama *Ulidavaru Kandanthe*. The film became a massive cult classic for its unusual narrative structure and authentic portrayal of coastal Karnataka's culture, perfectly encapsulating his signature penchant for folklore, nonlinear storytelling, and character-driven dialogue.

In the years following, he established his own production house, Paramvah Studios, and became a central pillar of the modern Sandalwood wave. He starred in, wrote, and produced the blockbuster college drama *Kirik Party* (2016) and the ambitious fantasy adventure *Avane Srimannarayana* (2019), which leaned heavily into his trademark mythological references. In 2022, Shetty achieved massive pan-Indian success with the emotional drama *777 Charlie*, centering on the bond between a loner and a Labrador. Most recently, he delivered a critically acclaimed performance in the two-part romantic tragedy *Sapta Saagaradaache Ello* (Side A and Side B) (2023).
